Routine podiatric care is especially important for older adults. Many seniors find that flexibility, eyesight, and grip strength make it difficult to safely trim their own toenails, inspect their feet, or apply topical treatments. We provide gentle, professional nail care in a comfortable office setting, including reduction of thickened nails, treatment of ingrown nails, and care for fungal infections. Regular podiatric visits are an opportunity to catch small problems early — a callus that is starting to break down, a circulation change, an early infection — before they become serious. For patients with diabetes, neuropathy, or poor circulation, this preventive care is genuinely lifesaving.

For patients in assisted living or who have difficulty traveling, we work to make scheduling as convenient as possible.

Footwear advice is particularly important in this age group. We discuss the value of shoes with secure closures rather than slip-ons, slip-resistant soles, supportive arches, and adequate room in the toe box. We can prescribe Medicare-covered diabetic shoes for qualifying patients. We also discuss home safety, the importance of keeping skin moisturized, and warning signs that should prompt a call to our office.
